I consider myself truly fortunate to sit down with so many artists, each encounter offering a glimpse into their worlds and unique perspectives. Detroit is in the midst of a renaissance—a thrilling revival, where an incredible influx of visionaries and creators is breathing new life into the city. This growth has transformed Detroit into a thriving landscape of opportunity, opening doors for countless creatives to explore, express, and elevate their work. Within this vibrant and expanding art space, I am often introduced to individuals whose contributions are essential to nurturing the community. One such remarkable force is T'airah Marshay

.
T'airah is a lifestyle curator, designer, and entrepreneurial force—a multidimensional artist shaping the heart of Detroit. As a prominent fashion stylist with Xhibition Detroit, she crafts visions of style that transcend fashion, inviting an audience to experience the city’s unique rhythm. Founder of "ABLE, A Better Living Experience," T'airah channels her passion into fostering community growth and creating spaces that support Detroit's natural brilliance.
Raised amidst the vibrant landscapes of the Bay Area but rooted in Detroit, T'airah carries the dual essence of both cities. She brings these influences into every project, especially through her work with the Speaker Series at Detroit Foundation Hotel—a collaborative event she lovingly curates to connect designers, artists, and creatives. “It’s about more than networking; it’s about weaving together a community,” she says, drawing together visionaries who infuse the city with energy and meaning.
Reflecting on her relationship with Detroit, T'airah describes it as a city that’s not only rich in history but also in boundless potential. "Detroit is a tunnel of fun environments and holds such a vibrant history. Coming back to my roots here allows me to feel the city’s essence, honoring what it represents. To me, it’s all about creating spaces where people can gather, celebrate, and rediscover the soul of Detroit."
When I asked T'airah about the beauty she finds here, she smiled. “Beauty is everywhere—it's in the people, the land, the culture. I’m a strong advocate for supporting the women in my community.” She sees Detroit not just as a city but as a tapestry of resilience, creativity, and strength—a canvas where she and others can paint visions of a brighter, more connected future.
When asked about her most notable work, T'airah’s face lights up with a blend of pride and nostalgia. “My most memorable experience has to be working with Princess Nokia," she shares. "A Bronx native who fuses Hip-Hop, Pop, and Alternative sounds, she truly embodies the spirit of a modern glamor princess. Styling her for the album Everything is Beautiful was a unique journey. It was all about contrasts—juxtaposing her rebellious side with a classical elegance. She was discovering her middle ground, experimenting with new images as she prepared to share this part of herself with the world on tour.”

Detroit’s art style stands in a class of its own, and I asked T'airah whether she faced challenges adapting her work and experiences to fit within its bold culture. She replies with a quiet confidence, “It’s not challenging; it’s in my blueprint. I was made for this.” With roots running deep through her mother, a Detroit native, T'airah sees Detroit’s essence as one of resilience and raw authenticity. “Detroit’s style is grit,” she adds, recognizing the city’s powerful spirit as both a guide and a grounding force in her work.
